Baniyas Investment and Development Company (BID) – the investment arm of Bani Yas Sports Club – has signed up two dynamic entertainment entities – WANASA Family Entertainment Center and Grand Cinemas for its community mall at Bawabat Al Sharq in Baniyas, Abu Dhabi.

Covering a dynamic design space of 148,000 SQM, the mall will feature 339 high profile retail outlets of fashion wear, electronics, neighborhood services, accessory outlets, jewelers and a hypermarket. The mall, spread across two floors, will include 2,245 parking spaces and 16 food outlets inclusive of a variety of restaurants and cafes.

Commenting on the new entertainment agreements, Wael Tawil, Chief Executive Officer of BID, said: “The upcoming community mall at Baniyas will be a true reflection of our culture, offering the best of creativity and entertainment options to our discerning customers. As part of our commitment to provide the perfect cultural and social mix at the mall, we decided to sign up Wanasa and Grand Cinemas. We have been extremely selective in awarding our contracts for the mall as we want the residents of the Bawabat Al Sharq to only get the best.”

Wanasa Land, one of the leading names in family entertainment, is an active member of Sheikh Khalifa Fund and is associated with integrated brands such as Wanoos Village, Strike Zone, Wanasa Bowling Center, Alaab, and Primo Café. Sprawling over an area of 3,738 square metres within the mall, Wanasa will provide a wide spectrum of entertaining activities and services that will cater to all ages.

To add to the appeal of the mall as a family destination, Grand Cinemas will install four cinemas with total of 1200 seats covering over 2,543 square metres. A combination of English and Arabic movies will cater to the various needs and tastes of the community and neighborhood.

He further added: “The shopping centre, being the first of its kind for the city of Baniyas, will represent a focal point for shoppers. Being a community mall, we are focused on giving new shopping and lifestyle experiences for our customers and residents. Located in Bawabat Al Sharq, the mall is accessible and convenient to a large cross-section of the public living in and around the community.”

Twenty per cent of the mall has been constructed and it is expected to be completed by end-2010.
