Better Late Than Never: Qatar Ministry Launches Shaded Trolleys for Outdoor Workers

As the summer sun gets fiercer by the day, it gets tougher for people who work outdoors. 

To protect their workers, who work outdoors like cleaners, the Public Cleaning Department at the Ministry of Municipality and Environment (MME) has come up with an innovative solution.

They have provided cleaning workers with smart-looking shaded trolleys. 

“Considering the hot weather in Qatar, MME provided the new shaded cleaning trolleys to protect the workers from direct sun,” the ministry tweeted from its official handle.

These first-of-a-kind trolleys will provide the workers much needed shade from direct sun and will protect workers from heat stroke. The trolleys are made from good quality and light-weight material making it easier to navigate, and will aid the workers.

The gesture has been appreciated by many officials and residents on social media. 

Hamad Lahdan Al Muhannadi, Central Municipal Council (CMC) member, tweeted appreciating the initiative by the municipality.

“Good initiative from the General Cleanliness Department at the Ministry of Municipality and Environment to reduce the effect of sun for cleaners.”

The cleaners will start using the trolleys from this week and will be used in commercial streets.

Safar Mubarak Al Shafi, Director of General of Cleaning Department, said that the ministry always looks for ways to improve its services especially those related to its workers.
