Booming rents in Doha has forced the landmark Al Mira Cooperative Store, previously known as Al Muntazah Co-operative Stores and located in the densely populated Najma suburb of the capital to close to business since Saturday.
According to The Peninsula, sources at the store said it had to close since the owners of the premises from where it operated, had raised the rent by QR30,000 per annum.
The society was paying QR 96,000 per year as the rent. The store was operating from the rented premises for the last nearly 11 years.
