The Egyptian Minister of Transportation Ibrahim Al-Demeiry revealed plans for the expansion of the Cairo International Airport. The ministry wants to increase the airport’s revenues to match profits of the Suez Canal. The plan includes the construction of a third terminal equipped with a cargo shipment complex, reported Al-Gomhuria . With a price tag of four billion Egyptian Pounds, the new terminal construction will be based on the Built Operate Transfer (BOT) system. The Cairo International Airport is expected to receive 25 million passengers and 150,000 planes per annum by 2010, compared with 10 million passengers in 2001.
