The Daewoo Engineering and Construction Company recently won an order to build a $200 million gas processing plant in Libya. The plant will be built in Wafa, approximately 680 kilometers south of Tripoli. Construction on the gas processing plant will start in March with a target date of completion set for 2004, reported the official Yonhap news agency.
The contract is part of an ongoing project to process crude oil and associated gas pumped from 38 wells in the Wafa oil field and transported via pipeline to the port of Mellita.
Established in 1973, Daewoo is a Korean contractor in Asian and international markets. Its fields of business include nuclear power plants and electric high-speed railway construction. The company entered the Sudanese and Libyan construction market in the late seventies and entered the Algerian market a decade later. — (menareport.com)
