Lebanon's official statistics show that the total licensed areas for building in Beirut and the surrounding suburbs amounted to 622,164 square meters in October 2005 compared with 830397 square meters in the previous month of September. Yet, the total areas licensed for building in Beirut withdrew by 7.3% in the first ten months of 2005 compared with the same period last year.
