Director General of Dubai Chamber of Commerce and Industry (DCCI) Abdul Rahman Ghanim Al-Mutaiwee recently received the new Consul General of the Netherlands Bart Twaalfhoven. During the meeting, they exchanged amicable discussions, and reviewed the economic and commercial relationships and issues of common interest between the two countries.

Al-Mutaiwee said that Dubai became a regional focus of activity and movement, as the majority of the top events which are crucial globally and for the Arab region convene in Dubai, especially those related to economy, trade, business and tourism information. He pointed to the imminence of the Dubai 2003 meetings next month, and stated that the summit, which will be held for the first time in the Arab World and the Middle East, is considered to be a true challenge to Dubai.

Al Mutaiwee mentioned that there are more than 50 regional and international exhibitions taking place in Dubai annually, as well as the 56 trade centers representing the various countries and are located within close proximity.

The meeting also reviewed the role of the DCCI in reinforcing the economic cooperation and inter-commerce between Dubai and various countries around the world, through encouraging the establishment of business councils to represent those countries, and aiding in the coordination of communications and links between their businessmen and their counterparts in Dubai. — (menareport.com)
