The Dubai Chamber of Commerce and Industry (DCCI) hosted a meeting with an Italian delegation, headed by the Minister of Foreign Trade, Adolfo Urso and the Ambassador Domenico Pedata. The highlight of the meeting was the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding between DCCI and the Federation of Italian Exporters and Importers.

With this agreement, the two parties hope to consolidate bilateral trade relations between Dubai and Italy, opening the door for an increase in the commercial activity between the two countries.

The Italian guests were received by the First Vice President of the Executive Council at DCCI Abdul Rahman Saif Al-Ghurair and the Director General of DCCI, Abdul Rahman Ghanim Al-Mutaiwee. The delegation included the Director of the Economic Development Department of the Umbria Region Ada Girolamini and the Italian First Secretary Nicola Minasi, along with many Italian entrepreneurs.

Al-Ghurair stated that non-oil trade between Dubai and Italy reached about four billion Emirati dirhams (one billion dollars) in 2002. Urso stated that some 300,000 of Italian enterprises are capable of competing internationally, and that the United Arab Emirates (UAE) are vital points of interest for those businesses. — (menareport.com)
