The Dubai Islamic Bank (DIB) will donate one million Emirati dirhams ($272,268) to six local charity organizations in United Arab Emirates (UAE), as part of its sponsorship of the 2002 'Dubai the City that cares' festival, which is organized by Dubai Chamber of Commerce and Industry (DCCI) during the month of Ramadan.
The local charities that will receive donations include the UAE Red Crescent, Mohammed Bin Rashid Al-Maktoum Humanitarian and Charity Establishment, Biet Al-Khair, Dar Al-Ber, the Charity Association (Fujairah) and Human Appeal (Ajman). These charities play an active role in providing support to people in need through a wide range of charitable activities and initiatives in many Muslim and Arab countries.
Through its participation in this festival, DIB hopes to encourage the business community in Dubai to assume a more active role in supporting charity and help those in need. Driven by a relentless commitment aiming at setting the standards when it comes to community initiatives, DIB has been actively working on providing the local community with an extensive portfolio of services.
Established on 1975, DIB is considered to be the first Islamic bank in the world that has implemented the principles of Islam in all its practices. It was founded with active assistance of the UAE Government, the Central Bank and people of the UAE. — (menareport.com)
