The Managing Director of Doha Bank Sheikh Abdul Rahman bin Mohammed bin Jabor Al Thani stated that the British- based “The Banker” magazine, an affiliate of the Financial Times Group, has granted Doha Bank its prestigious “Bank of the year 2004, Qatar” award for the second consecutive year.
Sheikh Fahad bin Mohammed bin Jabor al Thani the Chairman of Doha Bank and R. Setharaman the Acting General Manager of the bank received the award in a celebration organized for this occasion in London last week.
Commenting on the financial position, Sheikh Abdul Rahman maintained that the bank enjoys a strong financial position. "The half yearly financial statements of 2004 published in the local newspapers clearly showed the level of progress that we have achieved and the financial strength enjoyed by the bank." He added that the interim financial statement of the bank as at 30/06/2004 showed that the Total Assets reached QR 9.4 billion, Total Deposits and Shareholder’s Equity reached QR 7.3 billion and QR 1.3 billion respectively. "We were able to double the Bank’s capital in 2002 and 2003 through the distribution of one bonus share against every owned nominal share." (menareport.com)
