The Dubai municipality recently signed a 240.4 million UAE dirham ($65.5 million) contract for the construction of a convention center that will host the annual World Bank and International Monetary Fund conferences in 2003. Emirati based Khansaheb Civil Engineering was chosen for project, reported Al-Ittihad.
"As the first Arab country to be chosen to host this prestigious global event, we are determined to use the opportunity to display our capacities to the rest of the world," said Emirati Finance Minister Mohammad Khalfan Bin Khirbash.
The convention center will be built on 8,100 square meters (87,000 square feet) of land and will have the capacity to seat 4,250 people. The facility will also include a public concourse and a multi-story parking with room for 2,000 cars. — (menareport.com)
