Dubai Duty Free has scored top marks in an international Skytrax survey which rated Dubai International Airport number 1 in the world for duty free shopping.
The survey, carried out by the London aviation consultancy Skytrax, was conducted over a ten-month period, logging 4.8 million eligible entries from 86 traveling nationalities.
The survey was conducted from June 2003 to March 2004, which was an extremely busy period for the airport retailer which celebrated its 20th anniversary in December 2003 and closed the year with sales of $380 million.
The operation is well on track for another record year in 2004, with first quarter sales already reaching $118 million, which represents a 45 percent increase over the same period last year.
The Skytrax Airport of the Year survey is the world's largest passenger survey of airport standards. The survey is commissioned and undertaken by Skytrax Research of London, one of the leading research advisors to the world airline and air transport industry. — (menareport.com)
