Dubai Islamic Bank (DIB) has launched its new Internet banking service, Al-Islami Online. The service, which is targeted at the bank's corporate and consumer customer base, was built on Sun Microsystems' Internet banking platform and used Compaq for system security.

“The introduction of the new service forms the cornerstone of the bank's integrated technology development plan... Al-Islami Online is a comprehensive and completely secure 24x7 banking service, that can be accessed by our customers over the Internet from anywhere in the world,” said Abdullah Al-Hamili, DIB’s executive director for Information Technology (IT) and Human Resources (HR).

The introduction of the new service follows the launch of Al-Islami Mubasher, the bank's call center that provides customers with telephone banking service. The service forms part of the bank's strategy to offer its customers multiple service channels to accommodate their daily banking needs, according to a company press release.

Al Islami Online offers DIB customers a banking services such as balance enquiries on any of their accounts with the bank; the ability to download and analyze bank statements; transferring funds between accounts and the payment of utility and Etisalat bills online.

Established on 1975, DIB is considered to be the first Islamic bank in the world that has implemented the principles of Islam in all its practices. — (menareport.com)
