Watch out Dubai! James Bond...or rather his coveted customized Aston Martin Vanquish car, will be the main feature of a Dubai charity auction that has been planned to raise money for Syrian refugees, according to Arabian Business.
The fundraiser, entitled "One Night to Change Lives," has been organized in conjunction with the Dubai International Film Festival (DIFF) under the guidance of DIFF, Dubai Cares, and Oxfam staff.
Oxfam Great Britain's Chief Executive Mark Goldring says that the money collected from auctioning Bond's Martin, as well as other gifts such as exclusive tickets to the next Bond world premiere and other film-related memorabilia, will be sent to Syrians in Lebanon to help them through the harsh winter months.
“The money raised will make a real difference in bolstering Oxfam’s response to the deepening crisis in Syria. To date, Oxfam has helped more than 220,000 people and we are continuing to expand our response to meet increasing needs but more vital funds are desperately needed,” said Goldring.
Along with the Bond memorabilia and Bond's beautiful, one-of-a-kind vehicle, fully decked out with "20-spoke diamond turned gloss black wheels," Scarlett Johansson has donated VIP tickets for her new film Captain America 2 including flights.
In the past two years, the annual gala auction raised more than $2 million dollars for various humanitarian causes and it is the organizers' hopes that this year's auction will continue along the same positive trend.
The event is scheduled to take place at the Armani Hotel in Dubai Wednesday evening.
