Two Emirati sisters will launch their new fashion label at the Motexha Spring Retail Show this month. Their Designasia line will feature a range of traditional national dress with the appeal of modern Western elements, stated a press release.

Haifa and Hooryah Abdulla hope to reach a regional niche market at Motexha Spring. “Though we are targeting a small segment within each country, taken as a whole the Gulf represents to us significant business opportunities,” said Hooryah

“There is a lack of good local designers who understand the needs and wants of Arab women. Designasia was created to fill this gap,” said Haifa. Demand is now such that that the sisters are looking at opening a boutique. “We do not appeal to the mass market having said that our creations are generating keen interest amongst the younger generation,” added Haifa.

Motexha, which is staged twice a year in spring and autumn, is a regional showcase for the international fashion industry and a key barometer to emerging trends.
