Dubai’s 32Group plans to establish a wintersports center at Dubailand valued at one billion Emirati dirhams ($272 million). The development will be called Dubai Sunny Mountain Skidome.
A facility will join the skyline of Dubai's mega tourism development and will open to the skiing public in 2006. An agreement to set up the project was signed by Director General of Dubai Development and Investment Authority (DDIA) Saeed Al Muntafiq on behalf of Dubai Tourism Development Company, Dubailand’s manager, and Chairman and President of 32Group, Majid Pishyar.
The project consists of a steel dome structure that will include a huge revolving ski slope in an artificial mountain range. It will also have a deluxe hotel, a shopping mall, restaurants, coffee shops and other retail outlets.
Within the dome, there will be a Pinguinarium, winter aquaria, snow castle, ice-rink, arctic animals statues and other facilities and attractions. The project will be spread over a 1.4 million square foot plot within Dubailand. — (menareport.com)
