To strengthen the business and growth prospects of the marine industry, the Dubai World Trade Center announced that the Middle East International Boat Show to be held next year is now completely owned and organized by the Dubai World Trade Center.
Appropriately to be renamed as the Dubai International Boat Show (DIBS) - the largest marine industry exhibition in the Middle East will be held from March 19-22, 2003. The organizers have announced the creation of a new plan to enhance the event, which will mark its eleventh anniversary in 2003.
To suit the exhibitors and visitors' convenience, the revamped exhibition will have two exclusive shows to be held at one location. The chosen venue will be the waterfront at the Dubai Creek Golf and Yacht Club.
The organizers say a specialized air-conditioned structure will be built near the Marina to host the marine related exhibits. The new exhibition is expected to host the launch of a variety of new pleasure and leisure boats, luxury yachts, commercial boats, marina and electronic marine equipment. The size of products displayed in water or on land will vary from small motor-boats measuring a few meters in length to yachts and catamarans stretching more than 50 meters.
The last edition attracted some 14,800 visitors, up from the 2001 edition. The VIP Boat Show, which was held at the Dubai Creek Golf and Yacht Club hosted an estimated 980 visitors during the four evenings it was open . More than 100 companies, including 40 from the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and representatives from 15 other countries including Australia, Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, Kuwait, Lebanon, Nigeria, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Singapore, Sweden, the United Kingdom and the United States exhibited at the show. — (menareport.com)
