Ducab, the leading manufacturer of high quality power cables based in Dubai has succeeded in winning an annual supply contract for the year 2005 with the UAE Federal Electricity and Water Authority (FEWA), worth Dh36 million. The contract calls for supplying the Authority with 33 kV single core cables for its expanding power grid network in the Northern Emirates.
The contract, which was recently signed between Ducab and FEWA by the Chairman of FEWA, and Farid Mohammed Ahmed, General Manager Sales and Marketing, Ducab, will see Ducab supply 450 kilometres of single core copper, 500 square milimeter cables within 2005. The upgrade design of the copper cables are attributed with outstanding longitudinal and radial water blocking features to FEWA's 33 kV grid in Ajman, Fujairah, Ras Al Khaimah and Umm Al Quiwain.
Saeed Majid Al Shamsi, General Manager of FEWA said: "We look forward to the prospect of working with Ducab in this extremely important project in the Northern Emirates. With Ducab's impeccable track record of providing excellent services to its clients we are sure that they will meet our expectations and requirements."
Commenting on the contract, Farid Ahmed said: "The high value supply contract with the country's premier utilities maintenance and distribution authority is irrefutable proof of the quality endorsement our products have benefited during the execution of our last year's annual contract with FEWA. Ducab's reputation of maintaining and exceeding customer confidence has yet again been reinforced with this order from FEWA and has demonstrated our capability to manufacture and supply cables that enhance performance and result in the longer life cycle of our products."
The FEWA order comes amidst the backdrop of its expanding 33 kV power network in the Northern Emirates where major infrastructure and related construction activities are taking place. Ducab provides FEWA with an upgrade to their normal requirement of Aluminium cables, a high quality copper medium voltage power cables that not only will enhance its existing power distribution
network, but will also enable the grid to cope with the greater load demands
of these infrastructure developments and especially of those currently under development in Fujairah and Ras Al Khaimah. "Ducab has 25 years of expertise in manufacturing high quality low and medium voltage cables that have been used extensively throughout the region in a variety of installations. The endorsement from FEWA joins the long list of laurels we have gathered over the years from world-class utilities and services companies including ADEWA in Abu Dhabi, KAHRAMAA in Qatar, Central Store Department (CSD) in Bahrain and MHWE in Oman, who have benefited from Ducab's outstanding manufacturing technology, service oriented business ethic and high quality products that are based on the latest and upgraded specifications," concluded Ahmed.
