Dutch dry cleaning operator Clean Lease Randstad BV is establishing a regional unit, Clean Laundry Service (CLS), in Dubai for Dh55 million, said a top company official.

CLS, to be set up in November, will be the region's largest industrial dry cleaning facility, equipped to clean and process 65 to 70 tonnes per day, generating an annual turnover of Dh35 million. The investment will be made by Clean Lease and private investors.

A second phase of the facility, to be operational in September 2005, will increase its capacity to 200-250 tonnes per day. This will generate employment for 150 to 200 people for the first phase, eventually increasing to 400 to 500 when the planned expansion is completed.

Daily requirement of industrial dry cleaning and laundry services in Dubai could cross 1,000 tonnes, with each mid-sized hotel having to handle two to three tonnes a day.

Dubai has 272 hotels, many hospitals and clinics, and over 1,200 industries. (menareport.com)
