The Kuwaiti economy has flourished during the 28 years under the rule of the late Amir Sheikh Jaber Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah, as indicated by figures and statistics, Kuna reported.
With regard to the Gross Domestic Product (GDP), it stood at KD 16.4 billion in 2005 compared to KD 7.3 in 1994. Meanwhile, the number of local banks increased from eight in 1977 to 14 banking institutions providing all kinds of facilities. As of last year, the total assets held by local banks was KD 22 billion while the total deposits owed to the private and public sectors totaled KD 14 billion.
