Egypt Aluminum Company, the country’s sole crude aluminum manufacturer, recently announced that it intends to expand production by 25 percent during the fiscal year 2003, according to a company senior executive.
The company targets yearly production of 244,000 metric tons of aluminum, compared with its 2000 production of 193,507 metric tons, according to KSAToday daily. Egypt Aluminum hopes to raise its production capacity over the next seven years to reach 300,000 metric tons per year.
Currently, the company’s plants comprise of a 180,000 metric-ton-per-year primary aluminum smelter and a rolling mill, both located at Aluminum City in Naga-Hamadi. ― (MENA Report)
