The Egyptian Airports Company recently signed an agreement with the Ras Sedr Investors Tourism Company to establish the Ras Sedr airport. The Egyptian Airports Company will hold a 20 percent stake in the new airport’s capital and the Ras Sedr Investors will own the remaining 80 percent, reported Al-Alam Al-Yaum.

Financing for the first stage of airport’s construction amounts to 70 million Egyptian Pounds ($15 million). The landing field will facilitate 30-minute flights from Cairo to Ras Sedr and will be capable of receiving international charter flights.

Ras Sedr is the nearest part of South Sinai to Cairo, Delta and the Nile Valley. It is easily accessible through Ahmed Hamdy Tunnel that is located 130 kilometers from Cairo. This renders Ras Sedr a suitable place for one-day visits. — (menareport.com)
