Emirates Airline and Lufthansa Technik have agreed to explore the possibilities of greater co-operation in the field of technical services.

A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed in Dubai during the 8th International Aerospace Exhibition President of Emirates Airline, Tim Clark and Chairman of the Executive Board of Lufthansa Technik, August W. Henningsen.

The agreement will evaluate the feasibility of a joint venture for spare pooling support, for the benefit of both companies in terms of cost reduction and investment savings.

The project initially will use the Airbus A340-500 and A340-600 aircraft to review the joint venture proposal. Future projects to review the application of the joint venture for other types of aircraft are also possible. Representatives from both Emirates and Lufthansa Technik will shortly establish a team to carry out the review of the joint venture proposal.

Based in Dubai, Emirates flies to 71 destinations in 50 countries in Europe, the Middle East, Africa and the Asia-Pacific region. The airline recently launched regular flights to Moscow, Auckland and Brisbane. Next year, services will start to Lagos, Accra, Vienna, Glasgow, Shanghai and the US. — (menareport.com)
