Emirates Telecommunications Corporation posted net profits of $680 million

The Emirates Telecommunications Corporation (Etisalat) posted a net profit of 2.5 billion Emirati dirhams ($680 million) in 2001, up from Dh 2.37 billion in the previous year. The company’s board of directors approved the payment of interim dividends of Dh 1.5 billion in two installments of 25 percent, reported WAM. earnings per share reached Dh 8.4 percent compared with last year’s Dh 7.9 percent earning.  

 

Etisalat was established in 1976 and launched its GSM Service in 1994. Its subscriber base of 130,000 at the end of 1996 stands currently at 1.6 million. The principal activity of the Group is to provide telecommunications services, media and equipment including the provision of related contracting and consulting services to international telecommunications companies and consortia. — (menareport.com)
