Ground crews of Lebanon’s Middle East Airlines Company (MEA) recently went on strike in response to the company’s decision to dismiss many of its employees due to financial difficulties.
MEA intends to layoff 1,000 of its 4,500 employees as a result of over $450 million in losses incurred by the company over the past five years.
Currently, MEA operates a fleet of nine airbus aircrafts: two A310-300 servicing Beirut-Africa routes, three A310-200 servicing flights to Europe, two A320 and two A321, all of which service the airline’s intra-Middle East flights. ― (MENA Report)
