(MEBG) - Oman is not a major oil and gas player, but its oil fields are thought to have great potential. ENI's presence in the Sultanate of Oman dates back to the late 1970s. In 1977, after the end of the Dhofar rebellion, Agip joined an international consortium which carried out exploration activities in the Dhofar area. It was relinquished in 1990.
