Millions of mobile messages have been sent or received on Jordan’s Fastlink network with the majority conveying congratulations on the arrival of the Ramadan holiday, stated a press release.

Jordan traditionally holds one of the highest international rates for Short Message Service (SMS) usage; nevertheless, on the night preceding Ramadan the network registered an unprecedented level of message exchange. By midnight, the number of mobile messages exchanged stood at 2.6 million, rising up to three million just two hours later, reported Director of the Data Services Department at Fastlink, Bashar 'Arafa.

'Arafa explained that Fastlink had been able to process this huge number of mobile messages by virtue of the network’s capability to relay 200 mobile messages per second, a large capacity which is considered the highest in the region. He also points out that this great capacity has helped promote the concept of mobile messages as an independent communications service. — (menareport.com)
