The Majid Al-Futtaim (MAF) Group has completed site preparations for the establishment of the Souk Al-Nakheel shopping, leisure and entertainment center in Dubai.
The construction of 5,000 square metres of site offices, management facilities plus stores and equipment warehousing heralds the start of the program to build the 200,000 square metre complex which will include the first winter playground in the Middle East, complete with a huge ski slope. The first phase, incorporating the winter playground, shopping mall and the biggest Carrefour hypermarket in the region, is scheduled to open in September 2005.
Even excluding the ski slope, the size of the retail, entertainment and leisure elements of Souk Al-Nakheel will be 50 percent larger than Deira City Center, the Majid Al-Futtaim flagship mall in Dubai and the Emirate's top visitor attraction.
MAF Investments is a retail, leisure and entertainment property developer in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and the Middle East. It owns and operates three malls in the UAE, two in Egypt and one in Oman. The company has a further mall under construction in Lebanon. — (menareport.com)
