ALBAWABA – France is welcoming many tourists presently who are attending the 2024 Olympics. According to a report issued by Oxford Economics, the country is expecting an increase of 11% in its tourist numbers for this year compared to the years prior to COVID-19.
France is experiencing an increase in tourism
The same report revealed that France will be marked as the top-ranked European destination this year, as experts estimated the number of arriving tourists to reach 101 million compared to 98.2 million tourists in 2023. This marks an 11% increase in France tourism compared to previous years.
Hotels in France show that prices have peaked
During the current 2024 Olympics, hotels in France are showing a price peak overall. Lighthouse Research & Development data showed a price increase of 63% in 3-star hotels in France, while 4-star hotels recorded an increase of 64%, and 5-star hotels documented an increase of 41%.

Paris is experiencing the biggest number of tourists compared to other cities in the country and analysts expect the overall number of tourists to reach 14% in 2024 compared to 2019. It is worth mentioning that occupancy rates in Paris hotels approached 80%, especially on the day of the opening ceremony for the 2024 Olympics.
France is still welcoming tourists who are attending the 2024 Olympics, mainly from the UK, Belgium, and Germany. The country is expected to generate around 7.4 billion euros to 12.2 billion euros in revenue from sports events, hotel occupancies, and tourism.
As per the Oxford Economics report, room prices experienced a peak due to high demand and tourism tax increases. The report also showed an overall increase in France's tourism tax by almost 200% as the tax ranges from 2.60 euros to 14.95 euros.
