Gulf Air has issued a statement commenting on the current unofficial industrial action taken by some of the airline's maintenance technicians. Ahmed Al Hammadi, Gulf Air Vice President Finance and Chairman of the Management Union Committee, said: "Gulf Air actively encourages negotiation on any issue of concern to its employees through the appropriate legal channels. We will explore every possible avenue and work with all concerned to address the problems but cannot tolerate any action that will jeopardize the integrity and operation of our business."

Noting the action was not endorsed by the trade union, he said, however, that the airline enjoyed a positive open relationship with the trade union and its leadership, and that all parties were working to the resolution of the dispute.

"We would like to encourage those involved in this action to return to work to avoid unnecessary repercussions," he said.

Gulf Air confirmed that there was no disruption to normal services and that all flights were running according to schedule.
