Gulf Extrusions, one of the largest aluminium extrusion plants in the Gulf, has recently announced the signing of an AED 40 million contract with the newly established Reem Emirates Aluminium in Abu Dhabi. As per the contract, Gulf Extrusions will supply 3000 metric tons of extruded profiles to Reem Emirates Aluminium over a period of one year to meet the architectural finishing requirements of nine towers on Al Reem Island, being built off the coast of Abu Dhabi.

Modar Al Mekdad, General Manager, Gulf Extrusions, said, “We are pleased to finalise this deal with Reem Emirates Aluminium and in the process be a part of the prestigious Al Reem Island project in Abu Dhabi. Gulf Extrusions has a long track record of being involved in some of the most prestigious projects in the UAE, and our commitment to quality and precision has helped us secure many high-value contracts.”

The Al Reem Island project is the first contract for Reem Emirates Aluminium, which only recently opened its state-of-the-art purpose-built factory in Mussafah, Abu Dhabi. Spread over an area of 16,000 square feet, the factory will provide custom made architectural cladding elements with particular emphasis on designing and manufacturing unitized curtain wall panels.

Derek Bruce, General Manager, Reem Emirates Aluminium said, “We are proud to begin operations by being involved in the Al Reem Island project. Kick starting activities with such a high-profile project required us to partner with a reputed company like Gulf Extrusions who will be supplying us with high quality extruded profiles, including anodized profiles.”

Gulf Extrusions recently increased its production line by 40 percent as it moves ahead with its expansion program to accommodate the region's growing demand for aluminium extrusion products. The company, which has installed two new extrusion press lines to add to its four existing presses, has already achieved a 30 percent increase in output capacity from January to May this year, compared to figures for the same period last year.

Gulf Extrusions has built a niche for itself in the regional markets, supplying aluminium for several prestigious projects such as the Burj Dubai. Gulf Extrusions produces over 10,000 profiles, ranging from architectural sections to components for household items, AC grills and customised products. The company also extrudes products of several European suppliers and companies under agreement. Nearly 70 per cent of the output generated by Gulf Extrusions is used in the local market to support the building and construction projects. The export markets include South East Asia, GCC countries, Europe and Canada.
