In order to combat poor concentration at work, the German doctor Annette Val Fachendorf, member of the German Association of Firms and Factories Physicians, advises employees to leave work tasks for some time and chat with their colleagues to restore concentration and attention.
Annette also recommends to drink plenty of fluids, as poor concentration is not necessarily linked to the length of work time and can be attributed sometimes to lack of knowledge of the importance of providing the body with fluids. She adds that the best solution to solve poor concentration at work is allocating time for rest, saying that taking a short walk during the rest time for example increases energy and concentration and helps accomplishing work tasks faster.
According to the German doctor, it is advised, after the end of working hours, that employees sit in a quiet place and try to find out the reasons that cause their poor concentration; this may be due to lack of sleep hours at night, constant pressure or juggling many ideas at the same time.
It is noteworthy that previous studies reported that people should follow a balanced diet, practice relaxation exercises, organize sleep hours and exercise, especially working outdoors, in order to increase their concentration.
