HP launches first Arabic handheld

Hewlett-Packard Middle East recently announced the launch of it windows CE based Jornada 560 series with Arabic localization. Users can access information, browse the Internet, communicate with other PDAs, Personal Computers (PC) and printers and capture, share and edit digital images. 

 

Commenting on the launch Leila Fakih, Category Manager HP Middle East said:” This will enable Arab users to communicate in their first language using the HP Jornada. In addition, it will open the gate for HP Jornada users to make use of Pocket Office productivity functions, whether through keyboarding or handwriting Recognition using the Arabic language for the first time on Pocket PC device“.  

 

The Jornada's new Arabic support has an Arabic Simple On-Screen keyboard to enable editing of Arabic Text. Additionally, Arabic Handwriting Recognition (Grafiti) for isolated characters and numerals is also provided with high accuracy.
