IBM’s Worldwide Senior Vice President and Group Executive for Sales and Distribution Mike Lawrie together along with Hans Ulrich Maerki, Chairman of IBM Europe, Middle East and Africa return to the Middle East this week following Maerki’s trip to the region last January.
They will be visiting Dubai to meet with key customers and senior government officials to discuss recent developments in IBM’s strategic initiatives in the region, including a massive new outsourcing development and IBM’s imminent move to Dubai Internet City.
Lawrie and Maerki’s visit is at a time when Middle East organizations are re-evaluating how they invest in technology, and are looking at ways to work with major technology providers such as IBM as outsourcing partners.
This model has been working very effectively in the US and Europe for many years, and is now becoming a very viable option in the Middle East as hosting and telecommunications infrastructure matures, according to a company press release. IBM established a large-scale presence in the Middle East, with several major developments including an Arabisation center in Egypt. IBM’s Middle East headquarters in Dubai will soon be relocated to its new building at DIC.
