Iran’s Khuseztan doubles steel exports

The Iranian Khuzestan Company had produced 417,805 tons of steel since the beginning of the Iranian year, on March 21, 2001. This reflects a 17.4 percent increase in 2001 over the correspondent period the year before, when the plant’s output stood at only 355,739 tons, reported Iran’s official news agency IRNA

 

Khuzestan’s spongy-iron production rose by a dramatic 30 percent during the past Iranian year, from 415,632 tons the previous year to 541,650 tons this year. Of the company’s total steel production, exports of semi-processed steel climbed by some 20.3 percent, reaching nearly 817,079 tons this year.  

 

Exports of other steel products jumped by 103 percent compared to year before, reaching 190,172 tons. These exports were valued at approximately $30 million.  

 

The Khouzestan plant is located in Ahwaz. The company is owned by the National Iranian Steel company, NISCO. ― (MENA Report)
