Six new sugar factories with production capacities of over 5000 tons will be established in the provinces of Khuzestan, southern Iran and West Azarbaijan, in the southwest.
Bahman Danaii, director of Association of Iranian Sugar Factories on Monday told ISNA that the current 69,000 ton capacity produced by the local factories are planned to be increased to 130,000 tons per day in the prospect of Iranian year of 1400 (2021).
ISNA added that presently about 1.5 million tons of sugar are consumed per annum, 1.3 million tons of which are domestically produced.
For achieving the estimated increase of production, the current sugar factories should be renovated or new ones should be launched, thus, credits worth $250 million are needed.
