A total of 2.5 million sq. m. of tiles and ceramics was exported to Afghanistan and Iraq in the first half of the current Iranian year (Started March 20). The total quantity of exports will hit over 4 million sq. m. by the end of the calendar year.
Currently, Iraq and Afghanistan are the major target markets for Iran’s tiles and ceramics, said the Chairman of the Ceramic Producers Association Fazlollah Hamidia, according to MNA.
He also noted, “Some European countries and even Australia are good markets for Iran’s tiles and ceramics.”
Hamidia added that 65 million sq. m. of tiles and ceramics has been produced in the country during the first six months of the current year, say a 20 percent increase compared to the corresponding period last year.
Hamidia added that the total production of the commodity during last year was 110 million sq. m., projecting the figure is expected to reach 135 million sq. m. this year. (menareport.com)
