Iran exported 11.71 million tons of non-oil goods valued at US$5.09 billion over the past nine months of the current Iranian calendar year of 1383 (started March 20, 2004). This figure reflected a rise of 9.9 percent and 10.8 percent in terms of weight and value respectively compared to the same period last year, the Public Relations Department of Iran Customs Administration announced on Tuesday.
Over US$3 billion worth of industrial goods were exported from Iran which showed an increase of 25.8 percent compared to the same period last year.
According to the report, cited by IRNA, Iran exported 711,800 tons of agricultural products valued at 963 million dollars during the same period which pointed to increases of 7.7 percent and 8.6 percent in terms of weight and value respectively compared to 1382. During the aforesaid period, US$409,600 worth of carpet and handicrafts were exported from Iran, posting a rise of 9 percent compared to the corresponding period the previous year.
Meanwhile, Iran imported 24.346 million tons of goods valued at US$25.616 billion during the first nine months of the 1383, indicating a rise of 7 and 32.7 percent in terms of weight and value respectively. Industrial, mechanical, textile and agricultural machinery, iron ware, electric instruments, chemical and medical products were among the imported goods.
