Capacity of Iran's oil tankers will rise from the current six million tons to 10 million tons within few next years, while purchase of LNG carriers will raise the total energy tanker capacity to 20 million tons, the Persian-language Abrar-Eeqtesadi newspaper said on Monday.

Commercial Manager of National Iranian Oil Tanker Company (NIOTC), Siavosh Seyedan, said international transportation of oil products has been tripled during the past years, adding that oil transportation rates in 2004 stood at a 30-year high record.

The official put the NIOTC's gross revenue at some $400 million during the first six months of the current Iranian calendar year (started March 20, 2004). (menareport.com)
