According to a recent report by the United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO), Iran, by producing 3,100,000 tons of barley in 2004, is ranked 17th barley producer in the world.
The FAO internet site also reported that by producing more than 85,000 tons of the commodity in 2001-2002, Iran was ranked the 14th barley producer in the world.
According to the same report, Russia harvested 17,967,900 tons of barley in the current year and thus topped the list of the barley producers in 2004. (menareport.com)
