Italian Foreign Minister Renato Ruggiero is to head to Lebanon, Syria, Iran and Turkey on an October 21-23 tour aimed at nudging along the Middle East peace process, according to his ministry Tuesday October 16.
Italian Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi said earlier this month that his country intended to take the lead in efforts to build peace in the Middle East by contributing to a "Marshall Plan" of massive public investment in the region. — (AFP, Rome)
