Italian customs seized Monday 5.76 tonnes of cigarettes of a well-known US brand in containers in the Genoa port area after being illegally imported from Tunisia, officials said.
The cigarettes were among a shipment of 64 boxes containing t-shirts.
The shipment was officially destined for Switzerland but investigators suspect that the cigarettes would have been transferred before reaching the border, for resale in Italy. – (AFP)
