Jordan builds new free trade zone near Iraqi border

According to <i>Alkhaleej</i> daily, the Jordanian authorities have started the construction of a free zone are near the Iraqi borders . The project is spreading on an area of 15 thousands dunams. The authorities have granted a private company with 5,000 dunams to construct an airport, hotels, and housing projects.


The purpose for this project is to increase the mutual trade between the two nations.

In this context , Ali Almadadha , the head of the institution for free trade zones in Jordan ,  said that a very active investment started in the border areas with Iraq which includes the launch of 136 industrial projects, 588 for storage facilities, and 300 facilities for services. The investment amount is estimated at JD580 million
