Jordan's Minister of Public Works and Housing, Raed Abu Saud, announced that a new customs center will be built at the Jordanian - Iraqi border.
The Minister pointed that establishing such a center will cost between JD 50- 60 million.
According to Petra, the minister noted that the new center, which includes a building for passengers and trucks' parking, will develop the level of the extended services and it will also contribute to create new job opportunities.
Meanwhile, the Jordanian government established a new center for loading and unloading the Jordanian trucks heading for Iraq.
The goods of the Jordanian trucks will be loaded, from the center, on Iraqi trucks with a view to protect the Jordanian trucks that carry goods to Iraq.
Abu Saud, who opened the center on Monday, said that the new area, which was established in cooperation with the private sector, will start receiving the Jordanian trucks as of Nov. 1st.
The establishment of the center aims at securing the Jordanian trucks, especially after the looting of a number of Jordanian trucks in Iraq.
Secretary General of Transport Ministry, Alaa' Batayneh predicted that the new move would boost the movement of Jordanian trucks. (menareport.com)
