Majed Adaileh, head of the Arab Potash Company’s (APC) workers association in Southern Ghor, on Tuesday blamed the company for losses incurred during the employees’ strike, which has entered its second week.
Estimating the losses at around JD4 million daily, Adaileh said the company could have prevented them by resolving the issues of its 2,400 workers at a cost of less than JD10,000.
He said the staff’s demands include end of service compensation, annual pay raises, scholarships for their children and an increase in overtime payments. Meanwhile, the APC issued a statement saying that the workers receive higher salaries than their peers in the public sector and some private institutions, adding that the highest salary for employees stood at JD2,400 and the lowest at JD850.
The company added that the employees also receive four extra months salary a year in addition to other benefits and incentives.
