Jordan Chamber of Commerce President Nael Kabariti on Sunday voiced hope that the upcoming visit by Russia’s President Vladimir Putin and an accompanying business delegation will help increase the volume of trade between the two countries. During the visit, Jordanian and Russian businessmen will explore means to increase joint commercial exchange, he said.
They will examine the possibility of Jordan’s exporting clothes to the Russian market, he added. Jordan’s exports to Russia reached $22.8 million in 2011 compared with $5.2 million in 2007, an increase by 330 per cent.
The Kingdom’s imports from Russia also rose to $593 million compared with $310 million, an increase by 90 per cent. Vegetables, food products and pharmaceuticals are foremost of Jordan’s exports to Russia whereas wheat, barely and timber represent foremost of Russia’s imports from Jordan.
