Jordan Telecom to hold Convergence 2002 in July

Jordan’s largest technology event, the Convergence conference, is to be held in Amman, on the July 16, 2002. The event will be hosted by Jordan Telecom Group in partnership with the Jordanian Ministry of ICT (information and communications technology) and Intaj, the Jordanian technology association. 

 

Held under the banner “Building business on communications services”, Convergence 2002 aims to showcase the wide range of technology-based business opportunities that are opening up in Jordan today, as well as to examine and assess some of the challenges facing Jordan's business community.  

 

A one-day event, the conference is to feature a keynote session, three panel sessions and a number of demonstrations and showcases of leading-edge technology services and innovations. 

 

Jordan Telecom, with an estimated capital of JD520 million, started operation under its new name in 1997 as Jordan's provider of communications services. The company operates the Jordanian national technology infrastructure, delivering the infrastructure for a number of ISP's and mobile service providers. France Telecom along with The Arab Bank signed in January 2000, a $508 million deal to acquire 40 percent of Jordan Telecom. — (menareport.com)
