Kuwait's three oil refineries on Sunday were shut down due to sudden electricity blackout, said the Managing Director and Board Chairman of the Kuwait National Petroleum Company (KNPC) Sami Al-Rushaid.
Speaking to Kuwait News Agency (KUNA), Al-Rushaid said that the electric blackout which took place in most of Kuwait's districts at 1.00 pm directly affected oil refineries, causing a critical situation.
Al-Rushaid added back-up generators have been operated to ensure a safe shut down of refineries. The three oil refineries produce 920,000 barrels per day of oil derivatives. (menareport.com)
