An environmental training course was recently organized for the employees of the Syrian-Jordanian-Lebanese environmental data bank project. The employees will learn how to measure air and water pollution and resolve environmental problems, Al-Quds Al-Arabi reported.

Germany provided DM 400 million in aid for the three countries to finance the first phase of the environmental bank project, which began in June 2001 and is to be completed by March 2003. The bank aims to gather environmental indicator not only for Syria, Lebanon and Jordan but also in the rest of the Arab World, based on a recommendation by the Arab League. — (menareport.com)
