According to recent reports, leaders of Egypt and Libya have stressed their desire to boost bilateral agreements between the two countries. To further this goal, a summit is planned to take place in the near future, supposedly at some point on the Egyptian Libyan border.
Last month, the Egyptian-Libyan joint higher committee met in Tripoli to evaluate ways of promoting economic and trade relations between the two countries. The establishment of a joint company for engineering design and maintenance of the joint energy network has been suggested.
Egyptian Minister of Electricity and Energy Ali Al-Saedi stressed the need to promote cooperation in the energy domain, referring to implementing the first and second phases of a power linkage project and joint energy grid between the two sides were also discussed.
This past March, Libyan President Al-Qadhafi visited Cairo on route to other Arab nations, prior to the Arab summit held in Amman. ― (MENA Report)
